Creativity is defined as the tendency to generate or recognize new ideas, alternatives, or possibilities. However, creativity cannot exist with chronic busyness. We have the desire to be creative because it is useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining ourselves and others; but being busy is killing our ability to think creatively.
According to recent research, creativity takes a hit when you’re constantly busy. To be able to be creative you need to let your mind wander. In short, you need to be idle in order to switch your brain to explore and generate new ideas. Therefore, you need to reduce distractions. Being busy is a distraction.
Chronic busyness is not real productivity. Although it gives you the feeling that you are important, it is not good for you overall. It can hurt your health and well-being. There is a tendency for you to be addicted to busyness. Your brain’s attentional system becomes accustomed to constant stimulation.Â
Engaging in your creativity requires hitting the reset button. Take a walk in the park without your phone bothering you. Get out of your comfort zone. Have fun – live life.Â
