Human as we are, we tend to overestimate what we can do in the short term and underestimate what we can do in the long term. We need to recognize that there is not a lot we can do in the short term but there is so much we can do in the long term.Â
Do not get us wrong with this. Be highly ambitious in regards to what you expect to achieve in the future. However, be conservative in the results you expect to immediately achieve. It is truly a challenge to define realistic timelines and deadlines. Be patient and in time you will get better with experience.
Take small steps regularly and consistently and you will see the results in the long run. Keep in mind that compounding success stems from our ability to stick with something over time. Including the good and the bad times, the successes and failures, the ups and the downs.Â
Just take it as a motivation to work hard knowing that big accomplishments take time. Hence, do not overestimate what you can do short term and underestimate what you can do long term.
